The Arizona Wind Quintet will be in residency at the Escuela Nacional de Música (UNAM) in Mexico City from February 27-March 2, 2018. In addition to teaching, conducting master classes, and coaching ensembles, the quintet will perform a gala conclusion concert on March 1st.
Brian Luce is joined by faculty artists Rex Woods, Pamela Decker, Theodore Buchholz and Hollywood film composer/performer Christopher Caliendo in a performance of music spanning the style periods and continents. Brian will perform music by Blavet, Caliendo and Damaré. In addition, the audience will hear the world premiere of Christopher Caliendo’s “The Hunt.”
Brian will perform music of Debussy, Paganini, Ibert, Dutilleux, and Caliendo on campus with HSU Faculty pianist May Tsao-Lim at 7:30 PM. He will also conduct a master class at 1:00 PM featuring flute students from HSU and Ouachita Baptist University.
Brian will perform Anatoly Boyarsky’s Ecloga and Christopher Caliendo’s Sonata No. 12, both of which were written for him. He will also perform Richard Faith’s Rhapsody. Brian is joined by pianist Rex Woods.
I am joined by Carrol McLaughlin in a concert of music from our forthcoming CD, Allume. Selections include works by Blavet, Buss, McLaughlin, Monti, and Paganini.
